5 Ways to Avoid Toxicity in Your Life and Enjoy

24 August 2022

We’re living in an age of toxicity. It’s easy to find examples of this. In fact, there’s a good chance you’re reading this article as a direct consequence of toxicity.

The internet has enabled us to connect with people from all over the world, but it’s also made it easier for people to spread hatred, ignorance, and abuse. TIn short: we live in an age where saying hateful things comes with almost no consequences and saying nice things has a whole bunch of them built-in. But what if we didn’t? What if we found ways to avoid toxicity in our lives?

That doesn’t mean avoiding toxic people or cutting them out of our lives – sometimes you have no choice but to be around them. It just means finding ways to sidestep it so your own life isn’t consumed by its effects.

If you’re looking to avoid being toxic in your life, here are five ways you can do so:

Focus on What Makes you Happy and Relaxed

A big part of being a toxic person has to do with being constantly angry. Angry at the differences between people. Angry at the injustices of the world. Angry at the way the government is run.

Being angry is easy and adds the feeling that you’re making a difference. The problem is that being angry is a genuinely selfish emotion. It makes you focus on your feelings of injustice and leaves no room for compassion for the other person’s point of view.

All you’re doing is making the rest of the world a worse place to be. Focus on what makes you happy. Focus on the things you love about other people. Focus on the things you love about the world. There’s no need to turn everything into a fight. There’s no need to create more toxicity in the world. Don’t focus on what angers you. Focus on the things that make you happy.

Try vaping to relax your mind when you find yourself in an angry situation. There are many vaping devices, but we recommend THC vape   due to its potential benefits.

Be Selective About the Media you Consume

One of the easiest ways to avoid becoming toxic is to avoid consuming toxic media. We’ve all seen it happen: someone who’s a nice person becomes toxic after watching a few hours of Fox News, listening to an hour-long Rush Limbaugh rant, or reading the latest Breitbart article as an angry response to poor people voting for poor people.

If you consume toxic media, it will eventually make you toxic. Avoid it like the plague. Instead, read things that challenge your worldview. Read things that expand your mind, open your eyes to new ideas, and inform you about issues you might not otherwise encounter in your day-to-day life. Read things that make you a better person.

Be Mindful of the People you Surround Yourself with

We all know toxic people. They’re the people who always find something to complain about. They’re the people who are quick to judge others and slow to forgive their own mistakes. They’re the people who refuse to look at any situation from any point of view other than their own. They’re the people who go out of their way to hurt people and make life worse for everyone.

You know these people. They’re near enough to everyone. Be mindful of the people you surround yourself with. If you have a friend who’s always complaining about their life, be aware that you’re associating with that. Surround yourself with good people.

Don’t Participate in Toxicity

This is a big one. Don’t participate in toxicity or engage with it. It also means don’t give it the power it craves or become part of the problem. That doesn’t mean you have to ignore it. That means you don’t take part in it.

You don’t post angry, ill-thought-out opinion pieces on your social media accounts that make everyone around you more furious. You don’t share memes that fuel hatred towards other people.

Don’t engage with people constantly trying to create division, hatred, and unrest. There are plenty of things to discuss without having to pour more fuel on the fires of toxicity.

Read Books by Smart People

One of the best ways to avoid being consumed by toxicity is to read books by intelligent people. You could read about the lives of poor people and try to understand their struggle better, or you could read about people like Malala Yousafzai.

Reading books by smart people is an excellent way to avoid toxicity. It helps you understand where other people come from and how they feel. It enables you to realize that not everyone is fighting the same battle as you, and it helps you understand that the way you choose to fight those battles might not be the best. It enables you to become a better person.

Toxicity is common in today’s world, and unfortunately, it often seems like the people with the most drama, issues, and baggage have the most time on their hands to invest in other people. It can be exhausting, but there are ways to avoid toxicity in your life and enjoy yourself again!  We hope that by reading this article, you can avoid toxicity and make the world a better place.
