Ishan Kishan represented India at the Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh in 2016, when his team lost to West Indies and placed second. Gujarat Lions picked up Ishan in the 2016 IPL auction. In the 2018 IPL auction, the Mumbai Indians bought him for 15.5 crores. he scored 516 runs from 14 games for the Mumbai Indians in the 2020 IPL. He was his team’s leading run-scorer. He also took home the season’s most sixes title.
Ishan, who was purchased by the Mumbai Indians for the 2022 IPL, was the second-most expensive Indian player at the auction, behind Yuvraj Singh, after being purchased for 15.25 crores. Ishan hit 273 runs against Delhi on November 6, 2016, in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy. He had scored the highest-ever Ranji Trophy score by a player from Jharkhand. With 484 runs in six games, he was Jharkhand’s top run-scorer in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy.
He led Jharkhand in runs scored at the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy with 405 runs in nine games. He was selected for the India C team for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018, and he scored a century in the winning match. He defeated Jammu & Kashmir in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in February 2019 with an uninterrupted century. scored 113 not out against Manipur in the subsequent match to record a pair of competition centuries.
He was selected in the India Red team’s roster for the year of 2019–20 Duleep Trophy in August of the same year. He was picked in the Indian team’s A’s roster for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy in October 2019.
On February 20, 2021, Kishan scored 173 runs in the first game of the 2020–21 Vijay Hazare Trophy against the team of Madhya Pradesh. With a final score of 422/9, Jharkhand holds a record for the highest score of any Vijay Hazare Trophy squad.
